For over 20 years, the Fondation des Gouverneurs de l’espoir has been committed to improving the quality of life of seriously ill children and their families by supporting research projects, structuring initiatives and sustainable investments in hospitals.

Convinced that research is essential for better care, relief and support, the Foundation is working today to transform tomorrow’s healthcare.

A lasting commitment since 2002

Since 2002, the Governors’ Foundation of Hope has invested over $6 million in research projects, specialized equipment and pediatric palliative care initiatives.
These investments are aimed at improving treatment, reducing suffering and fostering an ever more humane approach to the care of seriously ill children.

2003-2005 - 1,6 M$

A pioneering research chair in Canada

Creation of the François-Karl Viau Research Chair in Pediatric Oncogenomics, aimed at better understanding the genetic mechanisms of childhood cancer. Since 2005, this Chair has become autonomous, illustrating the structuring impact of this investment.

2006-2012 - 1,3 M$

North America's first pediatric palliative care center

Support for the creation of a center dedicated to pediatric palliative care, offering specialized support to seriously ill children, their families and medical teams, in a humane and respectful approach.

2009-2012 - 700 000 $

Palliative care rooms designed with families in mind

Development of six pediatric palliative care rooms, including perinatal bereavement spaces, to provide a soothing, dignified and respectful environment for families.

2009-2013 - 1 M$

Research and specialized equipment

Funding of research projects and acquisition of specialized equipment, particularly for Ewing’s cancer and neuroblastoma, helping to improve diagnosis and treatment for children.

2018-2022 - 320 000 $

Better relief, better care, better growth

Support for research projects aimed at managing pain, reducing treatment side-effects and improving children’s long-term quality of life.

2021-2023 - 617 000 $

Towards less invasive treatments

Investment in research into pediatric gliomas and neurofibromas, to develop more targeted, less invasive treatments.
